CLUN WALKING GROUPS  There are now three informal walking groups.  All walks take place on Wednesday, year-round.

  • Clun Ramblers for day-long 10 mile walks

  • Clun Peramblers for 7-8 mile walks, less demanding and slightly slower

  • Clun Amblers for half-day 5-6 mile gentle pace walks

The assembly point for all the above groups is Clun Memorial Hall Car Park (GR:302811)  Participants in all group walks are invited to make a contribution towards running costs when sharing cars to the start of the walks.  Visitors are welcome to join any of the walking groups.

.For more information on Clun Walks scheduled in the next few weeks consult the Schedule of Walks

Clun Ramblers
For Winter all-day walks of 10 miles from September to March assemble at Clun Memorial Hall Car Park at 10 am every Wednesday.  Between April and August on the first and third Wednesday of the month assembly times vary so as to take advantage of the longer Summer days.  This enables us to go further afield and to take advantage of public transport (when available).  Contact:: Peter James 01588 640027.

For Summer Evening walks of 5 - 7 miles  on all second and fourth (& fifth when there is one) Wednesdays, April to August, assemble at Clun Memorial Hall Car Park 6 pm. returning to Clun in time to unwind at a local hostelry.  Contact: Graham Newton 01588 640116

Clun Peramblers  Every Winter Wednesday, September to March, 7-8 mile walks, less demanding and slightly slower than the Ramblers but somewhat faster than the Amblers.  Assembly at Clun Memorial Hall Car Park at 10 am.  April to August on the first and third Wednesdays of the month assemble at Clun Memorial Hall Car Park 10 am.  Contact: Jean Smith 01588 640551

Clun Amblers .  This group is for those who like walking but at a gentle pace, stopping to admire the view or look at interesting flora or fauna, or just those who can't keep up with the pace of the very experienced (and fit) Clun Ramblers., maximum distance 6 miles.   The first and third Wednesdays of every month (weather permitting) starting at 10 am from the Clun Memorial Hall Car park..  For further details contact Maurice or Dorothy Young on 01588 640846.

Clun Parish Paths Partnership
We extend a warm welcome to all walkers.  For easier day-long parking in Clun, walkers should use the 70 space Clun Memorial Hall free car park, at GR:302811, to ease pressure on the essentially short-stay Clun Bridge car park. Please encourage your group leaders and other visiting walkers to use the Memorial Hall.

For the information of leaders, visiting walking groups may, by prior arrangement with Peter James 01588 640027 or Ronnie Middleton 01588 640256, use the toilets at the Memorial Hallat the start of their walk.  Currently the toilets are being refurbished; they will re-open at the end of March.

Explorer Maps 201 and 216 provide more than adequate coverage of all the walking routes, while 'Clun Walks' and 'Walks around Clun' available in Clun provide a selection of local walks.
